Floor plan

Where the walkable floor ends, computed from the zone’s own geometry in the game files, with the 21 named mobs whose positions are on record plotted on it. This zone has 3 levels and they overlap when flattened, so the control above isolates one at a time.

A line marks the edge of the floor — a wall or a drop. Doors, locks and one-way drops are not marked, and a gap is as likely to be a ledge as a doorway. 21 of these 21 positions land on the drawn floor, which is worth stating because the coordinates and the geometry come from different sources and both have to be right for that to happen. This drawing is derived from the game’s mesh and is not a copy of any published map.

03Named roster

Named spawn every cycle. There are no placeholders here. The percentages in the roster below are inherited from classic, where a named shared its spawn point with a placeholder. They are historical and describe nothing about this zone now. The patch note, and what else changed.

Percentages and timers are the wiki's pre-patch figures. Level 2 in the location column is the wiki's own annotation for the castle's upper floor and is the only vertical information the source provides.

04Loot table

The wiki lists 40 items dropping here — a smaller table than The Hole or The Warrens, but a higher proportion of it is worth having. Weapon lines read damage / delay. There is no armour set in this zone; instead there are individually strong pieces spread across the servants, the tower and the outer grounds.

An avenging caitiff is the best single camp in the zone, and the most frustrating. Crested Spaulders at AC 11 with STA +6 as the common drop, and the AC 10 Crested Helm as the rare — but it spawns at 10% on its own 23-minute timer off two placeholders. The Crested Mistmoore Shield is arguably better value: AC 10, DEX +6 and +10 to three resists off a glyphed ghoul, which is a 100% spawn that appears anywhere a familiar does. And the Hooded Black Cloak's HP +45 on a back slot open to every class is the kind of item that stays equipped for twenty levels.

This is a bard's zone. Three instruments at resonance 11 drop here, two from one named. The Gypsy Lute is no-drop, so it must be earned in person; the Lute of the Gypsy Princess is tradeable and carries its resonance as a plain item stat rather than a focus effect, which matters for how it stacks. Note that a werewolf also drops the Princess lute — so it is obtainable at night from the roaming population as well as from Mynthi in the ballroom.

Nine quest lines route through this castle. The wiki's related-quest list names the Shaman epic, Zimel's Blades and SoulFire, the Crafted, Lambent and Incandescent armour quests, the Lord of Pain's Khukri from the Crusader's Tests, Solusek's Flower, and Vampire Teeth. Add the cleric Caduceus of Sacrament ground spawn on the jail stairs. Only one quest actually starts here — Solusek's Flower, from Ssynthi, minimum level 1, rewarding the Scepter of Sorrow for necromancers.

05Dangers

Trains are the defining hazard, and the geometry makes them worse. Most trains originate deep in the castle, and on the way out every creature along the route joins. All of them funnel through the middle of the outer area between the tower and the lake on their way to the narrow corridor to the zone edge. The only shelter is behind the lake or behind the tower — or zoning.
The zone shuts down after a large train. Pulling from the line of returning monsters as they walk slowly back to the castle is itself lethal, and they loiter near the entrance for some time before returning. Zone in invisible if you can, because you cannot know what is waiting on the other side.
Invisibility is two spells here, and the right one changes twice a day. Ordinary invisibility works on the daytime population; invisibility versus undead works only on the undead. After the 20:00 swap the population you needed to hide from has changed. There is also a trap on the secret door at the jail that strips invisibility outright.
Sitting at a repop tick can aggro an entire room. Sitting gives level-1-equivalent aggro, and at 06:00 and 20:00 everything alive respawns while everything dead repops. Be standing at dawn and dusk.
Mynthi Davissi charms. She is a level 32 enchanter in the ballroom and the wiki recommends endure or resist magic before engaging. Note that the 28 July patch caps charm at 30 seconds — that limit applies to her charm on your group as much as to yours on anything else, which makes her materially less dangerous than classic guides suggest.
Deep castle trains can carry 500-plus damage nukes. The wiki is explicit that monsters capable of dealing 500 or more hit points with a single spell live in the interior. At the zone's 20–45 band that is a one-cast kill on most of the group.
The counterweight: nobody hunting the front need die. That is the wiki's own claim, and the reasoning holds — the zone edge is close, so a group with Spirit of Wolf up that zones at the first sign of trouble should not lose anyone. It requires that nobody tries to be a hero.

06Getting there

Measured in play TIER M

4 sessions, 08 Aug 2026, 11:08-18:14. Measured from Avenrae’s log. Avenrae BRD WAR BER. Level 26. Mistmoore Castle. Shara playing hybrid support temporarily, DRU BRD NEC (Main trio will be BRD CLR SHM), so I only have those buffs during this session. Zone entered as Castle Mistmoore (D1, Awakened). 1008 kills across 65 kinds of mob; our own swings landed 61.5% of the time (14232 attempts). Drops seen: +1 ×236, +2 ×48, +3 ×2. Faction moved: Mayong Mistmoore, King Tearis Thex, Agents of Mistmoore, League of Antonican Bards, Ring of Scale, Temple of Solusek Ro, Shadowed Men.
Conditions changed at 11:57: Shara lost connection to the game.

What takes control away

882 stunning melee attacks were shrugged off, and 296 stuns landed anyway — every one of them from a spell. That gap is the point: an immunity to stunning melee attacks does nothing about a spell, and the character being measured carried exactly that immunity. Screaming Terror landed 20 times for 298 seconds of being unable to act. It produced no fear behaviour whatsoever — no fleeing, nothing the log calls fear — so despite the name it reads as a stun, and fear protection does not appear to touch it.

Counted from what the log recorded, not from what a spell is assumed to do. Resist rates depend on the character’s own resistances and alternate abilities, so treat these as what happened to one build rather than as a property of the mob. The useful part is the kill order: whatever casts the spell at the top of this table takes your turn away most often.

Fights broken off

Read these against the conditions. The healer's client was freezing and crashing through this session. The collaborator reports that every death this day but one fell during or just after a crash, so deaths and any escape here may record a technical failure rather than the fight going badly.

An escape is a judgement, not a verdict. It records that this group at this level chose to leave, which is worth knowing and is written down nowhere else — but it is not evidence the fight cannot be won, and the number of mobs engaged is usually the reason rather than the named itself.

Plus 113 ordinary mob types over 31,199 swings, landing 49%. Not itemised.

What this is and is not. These are counts from one session, not rates. A drop listed here was seen at least once and nothing more — no drop rate can be read from it. Damage and landing figures describe this trio, at this level, against these mobs, on this date; a different level or trio changes all of them. Mobs that never attacked us and never cast anything are absent, because a log records what happened rather than what was there. Spell names are as the game printed them.
